Jen of Jen X Speaks

Hi, and welcome to JenX Speaks! I’m Jen—a proud member of Generation X and learned that life rarely goes as planned. Between family, home projects, recipes gone wrong (and right), and the ups and downs that come with everyday living, I’ve collected plenty of stories, lessons, and insights along the way.

My goal with this blog is to share those experiences honestly—no sugarcoating here. Sometimes that means offering a helpful tip or solution, and sometimes it ’s just reminding you that you’re not alone in the chaos. If my words can make your day a little easier, give you a new idea, or simply make you laugh at the messiness of it all, then I’ve done my job.

So, grab a cup of coffee and stay awhile—because life may be messy, but it’s a whole lot easier when we share it.

My blogging journey began after I had an unfortunate house fire. The stress of overseeing my home’s rebuild, living in a hotel with my family, and working full-time was overwhelming. It was the final straw. I quit my job, deciding not to work again until we finished rebuilding the house. Now the house is rebuilt, but I haven’t found a job where the commute isn’t at least an hour. This, for me, is a non-starter.

I won’t miss out on my daughter’s childhood; she is my last child, and I wanted a girl for so long, so I won’t compromise on this. Since this is unacceptable to me, I am am working on alternative income streams. With a passion for self-sufficiency and a love for all things DIY since childhood, I’ve been the one who wanted to take it apart to see how it works and fix it. I only did this if it was already broken, though. This is how I ended up in the Information Technology field in the first place because my computer broke. Now I can fix them to do freelance work and have my own blog as well as a store selling digital products.
